The London City Council has moved forward with a proposed two-year moratorium on data centers, unanimously approving the first reading of Ordinance 2026-16 during its regular monthly meeting. This ordinance aims to amend the city’s development regulations to define and impose the temporary halt on data center construction.

Following the council's approval, the measure will now be referred to the London Planning and Zoning Commission for a public hearing, a necessary step before further consideration. The council’s decision came during a session held in the absence of Mayor Randall Weddle and Councilmember Judd Weaver. Separately, the council also overrode four vetoes issued by Mayor Weddle concerning the city’s budget, pay plan, and ethics ordinances.
