LEXINGTON, Ky. – Data center company DartPoints is currently unable to operate a newly acquired facility in Lexington due to its failure to apply for necessary permits and a subsequent moratorium enacted by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council. DartPoints had purchased a former Lexmark data center with intentions to upgrade its power capacity to serve artificial intelligence customers.

However, the company did not secure approval for either operation or remodeling before the council’s action. The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council has imposed a moratorium that prevents it from considering development plans, issuing approvals, or granting other authorizations for data centers through October 31. This measure effectively blocks DartPoints' immediate plans to bring its facility online, as reported by the Lexington Herald-Leader.
