Oshtemo Township leaders are considering aligning several moratoriums covering energy projects and data centers through Dec. 31, 2027. Township Attorney James Porter said the uniform moratoriums would remain in place as officials work on new regulations, but the township board has not approved the changes.

Officials also received an update on NewEdge Power, which could pursue an energy project in the township. The company is not expected to meet with township officials until September or October 2027, with a permit application potentially coming in early 2028. The project would first need to move through the Midcontinent Independent System Operator queue and demonstrate that its proposed location is suitable.
