Amanda Hollowell, the Democratic candidate for Georgia’s 1st Congressional District, told WSAV-TV that voters in Effingham County are concerned about Project Camellia, a proposed data center opposed by local groups. Hollowell said she supports rejecting the project and opposes data center development more broadly, arguing that its economic benefits have not been demonstrated for most communities.

Hollowell called for a national moratorium on data center construction until the Environmental Protection Agency is fully funded and operating and the environmental and physical effects on communities are better understood. Her comments came during a broader discussion of voter concerns ahead of the November election, in which she is challenging Republican Jim Kingston.
