Voters in the town of Gill, Massachusetts, are scheduled to participate in two Annual Town Meetings to address various town matters. The first session, on May 4, will include a vote on Article 7, which proposes a one-year moratorium on the development of data centers and battery energy storage systems with energy capacity between 50 kilowatts and 100 megawatts.
This proposed bylaw amendment is part of a larger set of revisions to town bylaws, including updates to manufactured housing definitions, allowing accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and incorporating updated floodplain regulations to comply with FEMA requirements. The Town Meeting will also decide on a $3.78 million appropriation for a new roof at Gill Elementary School, with the Massachusetts School Building Authority agreeing to cover a significant portion of the cost. Claire Chang, a member of the Gill Elementary School Roof Replacement Committee, emphasized the importance of resident support for the school project to secure state funding.
