The Waite Park City Council will meet on Monday, March 16 to discuss implementing a temporary moratorium on new data center developments in the city.
According to the report, city staff and council members will discuss the potential interim ordinance at a work session. If approved, the moratorium would allow city officials time to research and draft new rules and regulations regarding data centers, as the city's current ordinances do not address this type of development.
The council will also discuss other topics at the work session and regular meeting, including an assessment policy, proposed housing legislation, and a contract for creative video development. The work session is scheduled for 4:30 pm, followed by the regular council meeting at 6:30 pm.
