The discussion comes as the County Council considers enacting a one-year moratorium on new data centers. Public concern has already led to consequences for developers; county planning and development staff recently denied a proposed Valara Holdings data center on Jones Road, citing multiple violations of the Unified Land Management Ordinance and the ongoing moratorium consideration. Community members have expressed mounting concerns over noise, water and electricity usage, and environmental impacts.
