A proposed Amazon data center near Trenton is facing several developments in one week. St. Clair Township trustees are considering data center zoning restrictions, including possible limits or a ban, because part of the proposed campus would target land in the township. The decision could affect whether the project moves forward, while the group behind Issue 17 continues raising concerns about the development.

The Trenton City Council is considering withdrawing proposed tax benefits associated with Issue 17 after voters rejected the measure. Amazon Web Services is also hosting a public open house at Edgewood Middle School, where residents can speak with project experts about water use, energy demand, noise, jobs and environmental issues. The WATER Group remains skeptical, citing concerns about similar Amazon-hosted meetings in other communities, while Amazon says the event will provide residents an opportunity to ask questions directly.
