Proposed Sheboygan City Data Center Moratorium to be Considered in Public Hearing Tuesday
Sheboygan's City Plan Commission is set to discuss a proposed temporary moratorium on data centers larger than 10,000 square feet within city limits. Following the discussion, a public hearing will be held. If approved, the moratorium would be in effect for one year or until new regulations are drafted and approved by the full city council.
The Sheboygan City Plan Commission is scheduled to hold a meeting on Tuesday at 4 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers to consider a proposed temporary moratorium on data centers. The moratorium would apply to any data center project encompassing at least 10,000 square feet of floor area, whether in a single building or multiple buildings on one parcel, within the city.
Following the commission's discussion, a public hearing will be conducted. If the moratorium is approved by the committee, the Plan Commission and the City Attorney will be tasked with drafting a new ordinance to regulate such data centers. The temporary moratorium would remain in effect either until these new regulations receive approval from the full city council or for a period of one year from the date the moratorium is approved.
