A large community meeting in Sarcoxie, Missouri, drew between 175 and 200 residents to discuss a proposed hyperscale data center park by Geronimo Power. The Minnesota-based company announced plans in March to develop the data park southwest of LaRussell in eastern Jasper County.

Residents at the May Day meeting, held at the Gene Taylor Community Building, expressed strong opposition to the project, citing concerns about its potential health effects on nearby communities. Geronimo Power's proposal also includes a 2,000-acre solar farm and battery stations in rural Jasper and Lawrence counties, intended to partially power the data center park.
