P&Z to revisit development moratorium, data center pause
The Moore County Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to revisit the county's two-year moratorium on new data center development and a broader pause on major and minor development. Commissioners will also review several subdivision and rezoning requests, including Butler-Weaver Land and Cattle LLC's application.
The Moore County Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to discuss the county's data center moratorium and a broader development pause at its Oct. 6 meeting. The Metro Council approved a two-year pause on data centers in April while officials determine where such projects should be allowed and what regulations should apply.
Commissioners have discussed keeping large data centers away from schools and Lynchburg's tourism core, while potentially directing them toward industrial areas. The agenda also includes subdivision and rezoning requests for properties owned by Joseph Denby, Butler-Weaver Land and Cattle LLC, Stacie Potts and Gary Preston, as well as a solar project update and zoning-procedure discussions.
