Prince William County Supervisors Deny 2,000-Acre Dulles South Data Center Plans
Prince William County supervisors unanimously denied plans for the massive 2,000-acre Dulles South Innovation Center data center project. The decision followed strong community opposition, with residents expressing concerns about environmental impact and electricity strain.
The Prince William County Board of County Supervisors unanimously voted to halt the massive 2,000-acre Dulles South Innovation Center data center project. This decision came after nearly 100 community members addressed the board, raising concerns about the project's impact.
Resident Mindy De Pen Brock expressed that the community felt like an "extension cord" for the numerous data centers already approved nearby, emphasizing that all residents would be affected, not just those in the immediate district. Gainesville District Supervisor George Stewart further characterized the project as a "pernicious health threat." The proposed campus would have covered approximately 43 million square feet of data centers near the Loudoun County border along Sanders Lane.
