Economist Dr. Loren Scott told business and community leaders at the Port of Caddo-Bossier that Northwest Louisiana’s economic outlook is being strengthened by data center development, industrial expansion, energy resources and research initiatives. He identified Amazon’s planned $18 billion investment in three data center campuses in the Shreveport-Bossier area as a major source of future employment and business activity, with approximately 750 direct Amazon jobs expected.

Scott also pointed to the Cyber Research Park in Bossier City, Barksdale Air Force Base-related research, the Port of Caddo-Bossier and industrial redevelopment in Shreveport as regional assets. He said continued investment will require workforce preparation, infrastructure capacity and coordinated planning, while cautioning that construction activity and its effects on local businesses may not be fully reflected in traditional employment statistics.
