The 41-acre development, planned for the former Carestream Health site in an unincorporated area of Weld County near Windsor, is poised to become the largest data center in Colorado.
The approval followed a public hearing in Greeley where commissioners heard presentations from Global AI regarding their plans. However, community members present at the hearing voiced substantial concerns about the project's potential impacts. These issues included excessive water use, increased noise pollution, strain on the local power grid, and perceived inadequate outreach from the company to nearby residents.
Despite these objections and calls for greater transparency and information from the community, the Board of Commissioners proceeded with the approval. This decision paves the way for the data center's development, although community members expressed a desire for more details before construction moves forward.
