Residents of Hudspeth County, Texas, questioned ServerDome Global leaders at a community meeting about the proposed $15 billion data center’s noise, water use and power generation. ServerDome said the 700-acre project would use a closed-loop cooling system and generate its own electricity with a one-gigawatt natural-gas plant, while residents remain concerned about whether the company will fulfill its promises.

ServerDome Global held a community meeting at its proposed data center site on Hueco Ranch in Hudspeth County, drawing residents from nearby Desert Haven and Hueco Tanks. The first phase is projected to cost $15 billion, span 700 acres and include 10 dome-shaped buildings, with the completed facility expected to employ 200 to 300 people.

Managing Director and co-founder Ryan Wallace said the facility would operate behind the meter and use a one-gigawatt natural-gas power plant without connecting to the electric grid. CEO David Keegan said the project would use closed-loop cooling to reduce water consumption and that noise and transportation studies would be shared with the community. Residents said they had not received enough notice about the development and would wait to see whether ServerDome follows through on its commitments.
