Data center ordinance meetings continue, at times contentiously
The Clinton City Council is reviewing and revising a draft zoning ordinance to regulate data centers. Discussions have included defining three size levels for data centers and their corresponding setbacks from residential properties. The revised ordinance is slated for further review at an upcoming committee meeting.
The Clinton City Council is advancing a draft zoning ordinance to regulate data centers within the city. Council members met to discuss revisions to the proposed ordinance, including defining three distinct size classifications for data centers: small, medium, and hyperscale or large. They also deliberated on appropriate setback requirements from residential property lines for these different data center sizes.
City Attorney Pat O’Connell is currently incorporating the agreed-upon revisions into the draft document. The revised ordinance is scheduled for further review by the Council at a committee of the whole meeting following their regular business meeting on Tuesday, September 22.
