Federal judge dismisses DC BLOX claims over proposed Nashville data center
A federal judge dismissed DC BLOX's claims challenging Nashville Metro's zoning changes and moratorium intended to stop construction of the company's proposed data center near the Nashville Zoo. DC BLOX has 21 days to amend some claims, so the broader legal dispute remains unresolved.
U.S. District Judge Eli Richardson dismissed claims brought by DC BLOX against Nashville's Metro government over efforts to block the developer's proposed data center near the Nashville Zoo. The company argued that Metro's new zoning regulations and moratorium on data center approvals unlawfully targeted its project after it purchased the property.
Metro Councilmember Courtney Johnston and Metro Legal Director Tyler Yarbro welcomed the ruling, saying the city acted within its authority to regulate land use and impose the permitting moratorium. Richardson allowed DC BLOX 21 days to amend some dismissed claims, while the city is also pursuing condemnation of the property through a separate process.
