DAMAC Digital, a Dubai-based global digital infrastructure provider, is scheduled to host a community forum on July 14 at the Edward Peel Coleman Community Center in Canton, Ohio. The purpose of the forum is to present detailed plans for its proposed data center, located on over 80 acres northeast of Trump Avenue SE and Orchard View Drive SE in southeast Canton, and to gather community feedback. The company, part of the DAMAC Group conglomerate, secured a demolition permit for residential structures on the site earlier this year.
Hussain Sajwani, founder of the DAMAC Group, emphasized the company's commitment to responsible development, combining "eco-friendly design" with investment in Canton's future. Canton Mayor William V. Sherer II confirmed the city's partnership with DAMAC Digital, highlighting the importance of transparency and encouraging residents to participate. C. Stephen MacKenzie, president and CEO of the Stark Economic Development Board, lauded the proposal for its use of "cutting-edge technology" to minimize environmental impacts, citing the region's strong infrastructure as a benefit for such digital foundations.
Specific project details, including investment amount and data center size, were not released. The Canton Repository has sought further comment from DAMAC Digital and city officials regarding the project plans. The forum represents a key step in the development process, aiming to engage the local community and address potential concerns.
