TexAmericas Center, in partnership with Potentia, is moving forward with "Project Big Pine," a $3.5 billion data center and AI campus located in Bowie County, Texas. The initiative, unveiled as a major economic development project, is expected to bring billions of dollars to the ArkLaTex region.
Scott Norton, executive director for TexAmericas Center, stated that Project Big Pine is a media technology center being built on approximately 500 acres of land available within the TexAmericas Center property. This site is specifically designed to attract large manufacturing industries, including data centers, that require a significant amount of power to operate. Norton emphasized the importance of ensuring property availability and power access for prospective clients.
Officials noted that clients will not receive power directly from the electric grid. Instead, TexAmericas Center is exploring alternative power options, such as battery operations, to supply the necessary power to projects located on the property. At least six companies have already expressed interest in the development, which aims to streamline the planning and construction process for businesses looking to build to their specific needs.
