Columbia Borough Council is considering new rules for future data center development, including potential limits on building height and required setbacks from neighboring properties.
Residents and borough officials discussed a draft data center ordinance Thursday night during a special meeting at Columbia High School.
The current draft requires data centers to be set back 150 feet from surrounding property and allows buildings up to 100 feet tall. Council is now revisiting whether the proposed height limit should be reduced to 50 feet.
The draft ordinance is intended to establish requirements for future data center projects in the borough.
