The Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission recently approved a proposal for a DC BLOX data center in Irvington, a historic district within Indianapolis. The 6-1 vote, following a public hearing, was met with strong opposition from community members who protested outside and vocally expressed their frustration during the meeting.

Residents had rallied against the data center, sharing concerns about the project which reportedly includes two buildings and 31 generators. DC BLOX presented their plans and responded to community feedback, making adjustments to their proposal. City councilors representing the impacted areas, Andy Nielsen and Michael Paul Hart, expressed differing views, with Nielsen voicing disappointment for the community and Hart highlighting the thoroughness of the review process.

In response to the approval, the East Side Community Action group, representing numerous residents, is now actively fundraising to secure legal representation to appeal the commission's decision.
