Farmers in Allenwood, Union County, Pennsylvania, are expressing strong opposition to proposed PPL Electric Utilities transmission lines that would traverse their properties. These lines are intended to power a data center project by the PNK Group in the same community.
Residents, including a farm owner whose land includes a memorial called Love Hill, are concerned about various impacts. These include yield loss due to soil compaction, physical obstructions on their land, and interference with their farming technology. PPL's overview map shows six alternative routes, each presenting challenges to the agricultural community.
The PNK Group stated that they "support a process that meaningfully considers agricultural operations, property impacts, community needs, and the long-term electric infrastructure requirements of the region." PPL Electric Utilities has not yet commented. A township meeting is scheduled for Monday at 6:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns.
