Hubbard voters will decide whether to permanently ban data centers within city limits after residents gathered enough signatures to place the initiative on the ballot. The vote follows a one-year city moratorium and opposition to a potential but never formally proposed project known as Project Milo.

Residents of Hubbard, Ohio, will vote in the upcoming midterm election on an ordinance that would permanently prohibit data centers within city limits, including converting existing buildings for data center use. The initiative was placed on the ballot after residents gathered more than enough signatures amid opposition to potential development in the city.

Hubbard City Council President Michael Mogg said the city imposed a one-year moratorium in June, pausing data center discussions. A potential project known as Project Milo never reached the formal proposal stage, and no additional proposals have emerged. If voters approve the ban, the Hubbard City Council and zoning department would establish the implementation rules; if it fails, the moratorium would remain in effect until at least the following summer.
