The Gage County Planning and Zoning Commission convened a public meeting at the Gage County Courthouse, attracting an overflow crowd to discuss a proposed data center moratorium. Following testimonies from concerned residents and industry representatives, the commission unanimously voted to recommend an 18-month moratorium on data center development.

Residents Sean Fintel and Jamie Sumner of Wymore voiced their support for the moratorium, advocating for a temporary halt to new data center projects. Conversely, Eli Waring, representing Tenaska, testified against the proposed measure. This recommendation marks a significant step towards a potential pause in data center construction within Gage County as local regulations are slated for review. Environmental advocate Erin Brockovich was also mentioned as launching an initiative to map and investigate the environmental and community impact of AI data centers.
