Gov: Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners
The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners voted Wednesday to postpone a decision on a controversial data center known as Project Tango.
The proposed site is located about four miles west of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road on the north side of Southern Boulevard. The facility calls for a 1.8 million-square-foot data center. Plans drew intense scrutiny after the developer requested an additional 60 acres for expansion.
The project has faced significant community backlash over concerns about noise and water consumption for cooling. Despite these concerns, both the zoning board and county staff have recommended approval. However, these recommendations are not binding, and commissioners can vote as they see fit.
Prior to the meeting Palm Beach County Commissioner Maria Sachs stated that the board would hear from both community members and representatives of the data center before voting.
