The previous pause was set to end on September 10, 2024. This marks another extension since the initial halt on applications was implemented in January 2024.
The purpose of the moratorium is to allow the county to establish new rules and comprehensive zoning regulations for data center projects. A report from the Planning Commission, which is working on these guidelines, is anticipated to be released later this month. Commissioner Mike Mahoney emphasized that the public will have the opportunity to review this report, initiating a period of public debate and feedback on the proposed policy regulations.
