Dade County considers 90-day moratorium as data center proposal advances
Dade County commissioners are considering a 90-day pause on new data center proposals while the county develops regulations for the industry. A proposed data center at a county industrial park remains in the early stages and could require about 300 megawatts of power.
Dade County commissioners in Georgia are weighing a proposed 90-day moratorium on data center proposals as they consider how to regulate the industry. The pause would give the county time to establish requirements for data center development.
The proposal was sent back to the Dade County Special Use Permit Board for input. Economic development director Evan Stone supported adopting the pause and codifying clear requirements, while the data center under consideration has not yet been approved and could require roughly 300 megawatts of electricity.
