The Temple City Council has granted approval for a series of agreements that will facilitate the construction of Rowan Digital Infrastructure's multi-billion dollar data center campus. The extensive project is set to span approximately 1,400 acres and encompasses three distinct developments known as Lasso, Stampede, and Ranger.
Prior to the crucial vote, Rowan Digital Infrastructure committed $38 million to the city. This substantial pledge is designated for enhancements to water infrastructure, aquifer storage initiatives, and the development of a future community center. This commitment is conditional on voters approving a bond in the upcoming November election.
In conjunction with the approval, the City Council also established stringent limitations on water usage for the data center facilities. Additionally, they reinforced tax regulations and provided the necessary zoning approvals for the project sites. City leaders have characterized this development as a model of "smart growth with guardrails," emphasizing controlled expansion.
