Public records have revealed new details about a proposed industrial development along Brookwood Parkway in Brookwood, Alabama, suggesting it is a data center. A document filed with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) by APLD BHM-01 LLC, identifies the project as "Brookwood, AL Industrial" and includes an engineering appendix that explicitly names a "Brookwood Data Center."
WVUA 23 News reached out to Applied Digital, named as a contact in the document. The company stated it "continually evaluates potential sites in many locations" but has not yet made a decision to proceed with a project at the Brookwood location, though it expressed interest in bringing economic investment to Alabama.
Brookwood Mayor Joe Barger confirmed that while discussions have occurred regarding potential data center projects, no final project has been confirmed or contracted. He denied claims that the process has been secretive, noting that the matter became public because it was posted as per standard procedure.
The Brookwood Planning and Zoning Commission is set to discuss the proposed annexation and rezoning for the site on August 11, indicating ongoing local government involvement in the potential development.
