Expert testifies on data center developer’s proposed noise ordinance
An acoustical consultant testified that a noise ordinance change proposed by data center developer PNK Group for Gregg Township, Pennsylvania, is significantly less stringent than the current ordinance. This testimony occurred during a public hearing that drew over 130 residents, many signaling opposition to data centers.
During the third public hearing in Gregg Township, Pennsylvania, regarding data centers proposed by PNK Group, an acoustical consultant testified that the developer's proposed changes to the township's noise ordinance were "significantly less stringent" than existing regulations.
J. Michael Spencer, the consultant hired by Gregg Township, presented his findings to a crowd of over 130 residents, many of whom wore red to express their opposition to the data center projects. This hearing followed two previous sessions in July and August that also attracted hundreds of community members.
The proceedings included questions from Brett Flower, an attorney for Gregg Township, and PNK Group's attorney, J. Michael Wiley, who questioned Spencer. PNK Chief Development Officer Anton Voronkin was also present. Several Allenwood residents, including John Kulka, Joel Hess, and Kristen Snader, directly questioned the consultant regarding his testimony, highlighting the strong community engagement and opposition to the proposed development and related regulatory changes.
