AG Nessel hosts roundtable to discuss data center eyeing Michigan township

Artificial Intelligence is causing data centers to pop up around the country, with companies eyeing locations in Michigan to be prime building spots. A developer, Related Digital, is hoping to build a one-gigawatt AI data center on 250 acres of farmland in Washtenaw County, specifically Saline Township. The Department of Energy says that's the power equivalent of almost 300 wind turbines, or 100 million LED bulbs. The project is in collaboration with tech company Oracle and research organization OpenAI. Michigan Attorney Dana Nessel hosted a roundtable Tuesday with state lawmakers and environmental groups to discuss the proposal.
