Kentucky Power and bitcoin mining company TeraWulf have reached an agreement tied to expanding electric demand at TeraWulf’s data center campus in Grayson, Kentucky. TeraWulf would double its contracted demand, with the expansion expected to support additional construction, permanent jobs and tax revenue.
The agreement would provide Kentucky Power residential customers with winter bill credits for 10 years, beginning in 2029, with the utility estimating an average credit of about $25 per month. The Kentucky Public Service Commission must approve the proposal, and the longer-term effect on rates outside the winter credit periods remains unclear.
