Microsoft is inviting the public to a drop-in community session at the Conover Branch Library in Catawba County, North Carolina, to discuss its data center project. Residents can meet one-on-one with company representatives to ask questions and share concerns regarding construction impacts such as noise, dust, and traffic. This session comes after Microsoft sent a letter to nearby residents acknowledging these issues.
Microsoft had previously announced in 2022 plans to invest at least $1 billion over 10 years to build four data centers in Hickory, Conover, and Maiden, creating at least 50 jobs. The WHKY news broadcast also covered an increase in cyclosporiasis cases in North Carolina and road closures in Hickory for local infrastructure projects.
