Residents in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, have initiated a class-action lawsuit against a local data center, alleging it constitutes a public nuisance through excessive noise emissions. The lawsuit, filed against a facility owned and operated by Microsoft, contends that the constant humming has deprived neighbors of the ability to use and enjoy their properties and is negatively impacting property values. One plaintiff reported being forced to alter his work schedule due to sleep deprivation caused by the noise from the data center.

In response to the complaints, Microsoft issued a blog post on June 18th, acknowledging the noise issue. The company stated that various noise mitigation measures have been implemented at the data center to address the concerns raised by the community.
