A proposed data center in Westlake, Texas, is generating fierce opposition from residents in the neighboring city of Keller. The facility, planned for the southernmost part of Westlake, abuts the boundary line with Keller, specifically impacting the Marshall Ridge neighborhood.

Keller residents express concerns over the project's proximity, with some homes situated just over 500 feet from the development, compared to the closest Westlake home being approximately 1,200 yards away, which residents have called a "double standard." Their concerns also include the potential impact on their quality of life.

Despite having no direct jurisdiction over the Westlake property, Keller Mayor Ross McMullen stated at a special meeting that the city would explore every legal option available to advocate for its residents. He urged Westlake leaders to consider Keller's concerns before taking any action. Westlake officials maintain that a data center is an allowed use for the property, and the Town Council is scheduled to vote on a development agreement to ensure compliance with town codes, rather than on the permissibility of the data center itself. This sets the stage for a potential legal battle between the neighboring cities.
