A new legislative model has been developed by the Center for Water Policy at UW-Milwaukee to help governments in the Great Lakes region govern the environmental impact of increasing data center construction. The model aims to enhance transparency, assess cumulative effects, and set efficiency and public engagement standards for data centers.
