Fort Wayne City Council is considering a proposal for a one-year moratorium on new data center projects. Councilwoman Rohli Booker plans to introduce an ordinance that would halt approval of new data centers while the Department of Planning Services develops a comprehensive development standard. This moratorium would not affect Google's existing data center project underway in southeast Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne City Council is actively considering a proposal to implement a one-year moratorium on the approval of any new data center projects within the city.

Councilwoman Rohli Booker is slated to introduce an ordinance proposing a 365-day halt. This measure aims to temporarily prevent the City Council from granting approval to new data center developments while the Department of Planning Services works to create a comprehensive data center development standard.

The proposed moratorium, however, would not impact existing projects. Specifically, it would not halt the Google data center project currently underway in southeast Fort Wayne.
