The city of Temple, Texas, has officially moved forward with Rowan Digital Infrastructure's Project Ranger, a significant data center campus. On Thursday, the city council approved the zoning and annexation of over 300 acres off Interstate 190 for the project, alongside a comprehensive development agreement. Nathaniel Brown, representing Rowan Digital Infrastructure, stated that the industrial nature of the selected land makes it ideal for the data center, emphasizing the company's due diligence to avoid environmental and cultural issues. The development agreement with the city outlines stipulations for managing noise, construction traffic, and utility services, consistent with Rowan's other regional projects. Brown noted that Rowan voluntarily committed to submitting traffic and sound studies as part of adhering to city regulations. With final approvals anticipated in the coming weeks, Rowan Digital Infrastructure projects a hypothetical groundbreaking for Project Ranger sometime this spring or summer. Construction is expected to last 12 to 18 months, with the facility theoretically coming online by the end of next year. While the company is open to future investments in Temple, their immediate focus remains on their current projects.
