New Hampshire lawmakers propose bill to ban non-disclosure agreements for data center development
New Hampshire legislators are proposing a new bill to prohibit non-disclosure agreements between towns and data center developers, ensuring public participation and addressing environmental and utility impacts. This follows the tabling of a previous bill that would have granted data centers "by right" permission, amidst widespread public opposition and current consideration of a hyperscale facility in Bow.
Reps. Jim Maggiore, D-North Hampton, and Laurel Stavis, D-Lebanon, have filed a new bill in the New Hampshire Legislature to address concerns over data center development. The proposed legislation seeks to prohibit non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) between municipalities and data center developers, aiming to ensure transparency and public input, especially for projects on state-owned land.
This action comes after a previous Republican-backed bill, which would have allowed data centers to establish
