Residents of Grove City, Ohio, are voicing strong opposition to the potential development of a data center by Stream Data Centers, despite no formal applications having been submitted to the city. Resident Patricia Spillman, who operates a farm across from a proposed site near Rensch Road that Stream Data Centers lists as 'in development,' expressed concerns about the project's impact on her property and the local way of life, including potential noise, light pollution, and strain on water wells. Spillman claims to have received a letter of intent to purchase her land and noted a firm partnering with Stream Data Centers has met with residents to discuss plans for six data centers. Fellow resident Jen Belt is helping organize a petition, which has garnered over 1,500 signatures, urging the Grove City Council to implement a moratorium on data center developments. This push comes after the Jackson Township trustees, whose boundaries encompass much of Grove City, recently passed a data center moratorium. Residents are hoping Grove City will follow suit, advocating for a cautious approach to development to ensure proper planning and address environmental and quality-of-life concerns.
