Bloomington voters favored an advisory measure calling for a moratorium on large-scale data centers. The unofficial vote does not itself enact the moratorium, but it signals local support for pausing or restricting future data center development.

Bloomington voters supported an advisory measure favoring a moratorium on large-scale data centers, according to unofficial returns from the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The vote was part of a broader local ballot that also included a proposal to repeal the city’s 1% grocery tax.
Because the data center measure was advisory, the results do not themselves impose a moratorium. Further action by Bloomington officials would be required to formally adopt a development pause or related restrictions.
