The Imperial County Superior Court has dismissed a civil defamation lawsuit filed against the non-profit organization Comite Civico del Valle, its executive director Luis Olmedo, and Mount Signal Media's Jake Tison. The court granted a special motion, determining that the plaintiffs, Imperial Valley Computer Manufacturing LLC and Sebastian Rucci, failed to present admissible evidence supporting their allegations.

The lawsuit claimed that Comite Civico del Valle or Olmedo participated in, directed, or orchestrated an alleged defamatory campaign concerning the proposed Imperial Valley Data Center. Comite Civico del Valle had previously characterized the lawsuit as an attempt to silence their efforts.
