Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announces new data center guidelines

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced a new set of guidelines for data center development aimed at accountability and responsible development. Shapiro unveiled the plan — known as the Governor's Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) standards — during his budget address earlier this year. "I’ve heard directly from Pennsylvanians who are concerned about the impact data center development could have on their communities, the environment, and their utility bills," Shapiro said in a statement released Wednesday. "That’s why I am putting clear guardrails in place to hold developers accountable to protect consumers, strengthen communities, and put Pennsylvanians first."
