CRG President Chris McKee said the company’s proposed hyperscale data center in Festus remains tentatively on schedule for site mobilization and grading to begin in November, subject to city reviews and permits. The project faces organized opposition, while the city is awaiting final plans and will help publicize a required informational meeting before vertical construction begins.

CRG President Chris McKee said the company is still targeting November for preliminary work on its proposed hyperscale data center in Festus, Missouri. Initial activity would include site mobilization and grading under a land-disturbance permit, while vertical construction would require approved permit drawings, a sound study, a lighting plan and an informational meeting for nearby residents.

The project, planned for roughly 370 acres north of Highway 67 and west of Highway CC, was estimated by CRG at $6 billion. The company has not selected an operator and said it remains in discussions with multiple prospective users. Festus City Administrator Ben DeClue said the city will provide public notice once CRG schedules the required meeting, which is separate from the company’s community webinars.

Opponents have attended city council and planning and zoning meetings, organized protests and filed lawsuits involving the project or related matters. The City Council previously approved a development agreement with CRG and later approved annexation of 6.55 acres connected to the project.
