Davidson County commissioners are discussing a six-month moratorium on new data center projects, which if approved, would temporarily halt new developments. This follows similar actions in Surrey and Davie Counties, with Alamance County also considering one. Stokes County, in contrast, rejected a moratorium and is reviewing a data center proposal.

Davidson County commissioners are currently considering a six-month moratorium on future data center developments. The proposal was discussed at a recent meeting and, if approved, would temporarily halt new projects in the county. Officials noted that there are currently no active data center proposals within Davidson County.

This move by Davidson County comes as several other Triad region counties have either enacted or are considering similar measures. Surrey and Davie Counties have already implemented moratoriums on data center construction. Additionally, Alamance County commissioners are scheduled to discuss a potential moratorium during their upcoming meeting.

However, Stokes County stands apart as the only Triad County to have rejected a moratorium on data centers. Commissioners in Stokes County are presently reviewing a specific proposed data center project located in Walnut Cove.
