Jackson residents fight plan for data center in Northwest Jackson
Jackson residents filled a meeting to oppose a rezoning plan by Saxum Investment Co. for a proposed data center development in Ward 2. However, city officials abruptly postponed the discussion during the Jackson Planning Board meeting, leading to frustration among the attendees.
Residents of Jackson, Mississippi, gathered in large numbers at the Warren A. Hood Building to voice their opposition to a proposed rezoning plan. The plan, put forth by Saxum Investment Co., would rezone 190 acres along Forrest Avenue in Ward 2 for a major data center development.
Tensions escalated at the Jackson Planning Board meeting when Angela Brown, the Planning and Development Director, announced that the city would not address the rezoning issue at that time, much to the frustration of the attending public.
