Construction has begun on a $700 million data center in Temple, Texas, a project by Rowan Digital Infrastructure. The facility, located along Bob White Road, received city approval in September 2025, with an anticipated completion by late 2027. Nathaniel Brown, Director of Public Relations for Rowan Digital Infrastructure, confirmed the groundbreaking last month.
The development prompted concerns among local residents regarding water usage, energy consumption, and noise. Rowan Digital Infrastructure hosted an open house in March to address these issues, aiming to minimize the project's impact on the community. Brown emphasized the company's commitment to working directly with affected parties, including the nearby Robinson Family Farm.
Helen Robinson, co-owner of the farm, initially worried about construction impacts but noted that Rowan has successfully mitigated many concerns, including traffic management during the farm's operating hours. Rowan recently announced a 16-year partnership with the Robinson Family Farm, designed to provide significant operational relief and enable farm improvements. Brian Robinson expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating it would ensure the farm's long-term sustainability. Rowan aims to set a new standard for sustainable data center development and community involvement. Meanwhile, the Texas House of Representatives State Affairs Committee is scheduled to hold a public hearing to examine data center development across the state.
