Bottoms: 'I'm not afraid to push back' on ICE
Georgia gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms said she would seek a temporary pause on construction of new data centers if elected. She cited concerns about electricity costs and water use and called for a comprehensive review of how the state should manage data center growth.
Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms discussed data center expansion during a campaign visit to Savannah, saying the state should temporarily pause construction of new facilities. She said Georgia’s rapid growth in data centers has raised concerns about electricity costs and water consumption and called for a comprehensive assessment of responsible development.
Bottoms also addressed immigration enforcement, surveillance cameras and other issues in an interview with WJCL 22 News. Her proposed data center pause is a campaign position rather than an action by the state government, and no specific project or company was identified.
