Local firm proposing new data center in Denton County
A local firm, White Rose Partners, is proposing a new half-billion-dollar data center in Prosper, Denton County, Texas. The project was slated for review by the Prosper Planning and Zoning Commission but was removed from the agenda for more time. Developers are addressing concerns about noise, water use, and visual impact to mitigate local opposition.
White Rose Partners is proposing a new $500 million data center on the Denton County side of Prosper, Texas, aiming to create up to 50 new jobs. The project is situated near FM 1385 and Parvin Road. The developers assert that Prosper residents will experience minimal impact from the facility, which is strategically located next to an existing substation, with the nearest homes over a quarter-mile away.
The Prosper Planning and Zoning Commission had scheduled the project for review but subsequently removed it from the agenda to allow for additional time. Data center developments in the region have previously encountered significant public resistance. To address potential concerns, White Rose Partners has outlined plans to cap maximum noise levels at 65 decibels and utilize a closed-loop cooling system to minimize water consumption. Additionally, developers intend to incorporate a combination of trees and a biking trail to obscure the data center from public view.
