The St. Louis Board of Public Service unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a 120-megawatt data center on Tuesday, clearing a significant regulatory hurdle for the proposed $3 billion Armory Innovation District. The decision followed weeks of review and revisions to the project's operating conditions.
Board members confirmed the permit includes new conditions designed to address local concerns about water usage, air quality, lighting, noise, energy consumption, and long-term oversight of the facility. The data center is slated to be an integral part of the Armory Innovation District, which involves the redevelopment of the historic Armory building at 3660 Market St. and an adjacent warehouse at 3728 Market St. The overall project aims to transform the Armory into 214,500-square-feet of Class A office space as part of a broader technology district.
